It was an awesome day on the water as I took my Open Water student, Randi, out to finish her last checkout dives. We dove on the “Ancient Mariner” and Lighthouse Ledge Reef and had a great time! We saw a giant Loggerhead turtle and a medium-sized Hawksbill turtle too! Fun, Fun, Fun!

Tuesday, February 7th I had a private Open Water student, Randi, doing her first two ocean checkout dives. Seas were calming down finally as we departed aboard “Scubatyme III” headed for Hillsboro Ledge and Horseshoe Reef. I ran Randi through her required skills for the day and we also took a tour of the reefs. Dive buddy Jeanette was along for the ride, working on her photography skills and looking for good subjects to shoot. Randi did an excellent job on both dives and is now ready to move on to her final two ocean checkout dives!

Just wrapped up another Open Water class this past weekend! Sea conditions were great and the students got to see a wreck and a beautiful reef. Photo of the class is posted below:

Over the course of the two dives, we had a stingray encounter, saw a batfish, flounder, hermit crabs, horseshoe crab, a stone crab eating a jellyfish, parrotfish, spadefish, and a lot more. The students performed their tasks well and really enjoyed the variety of life we saw.

Another group of happy Open Water students finished up their classes today. With awesome ocean conditions, great visibility and very few jellyfish to speak of, our dives on the “Sea Emperor” and “Sanctuary Reef” were amazing and relaxing at the same time. Everyone was amazed by how much there really is to see on the reefs!

Today I had a “mixed bag” of students: 2 Open Water, 2 U/W Photography and 1 U/W Hunter. We had a beautiful day on the ocean as we headed out aboard Scubatyme Charters’ Scubatyme III to dive on the “Peter McAllister” tugboat and “Shark Ledge Reef”. Everyone did a great job on all their skills, the photo students shot about 300 photos, and the hunting student got to practice loading and shooting his gun (unfortunately, there were no fish for him to shoot today).
