Hello everyone!

This past week I had the privilege to have Scott, Mark and Nial in the pool for the beginning of their Open Water pool class. Thursday and Friday nights were pool nights and Scott and Nial were very good at all of the necessary skills. Due to an unfortunate circumstance, Mark had to reschedule on the first night. Pool sessions all went well and on the last night, we had time to play in the deep end and work on buoyancy skills, and they got to try out an underwater still camera and take pictures!

On Saturday, I took Scott out to the beach for his first 2 Open Water dives. We were just a little south of Commercial Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale, and it was a beautiful day with very little wave action. We headed out to our dive site and dropped down to work on skills. Scott was very good on both dives with all skills, and I even let him practice his compass navigation by “leading” us out to the dive site and back. We saw a total of 3 Yellow Stingrays, lots of Grunts, juvenile Angels and I found a Sand Dollar for him. On Sunday, Scott joined another class from my sister shop in Deerfield Beach to do his boat checkout dives. I know he will be an excellent diver!

This week I am finishing up Nial’s checkout dives. We have to do his beach dives on Thursday, then his boat dives on Friday. I will post an update when we are through!
