The Race for Women’s Wellness Half Marathon is a favorite local race. It benefits the Lisa Boccard Breast Cancer Fund, and gets a good turnout every year. This year the weather was amazing with 58 degree temps at start time.  There were close to 400 participants this year, either doing the 5k race or the half marathon.

The Race

The course is flat and fast, winding through Coral Springs neighborhoods.  There are usually spectators on the course, but I think the cold weather kept them away this time.  Not as many people as I have seen in the past. The volunteers at the water stops were awesome and the police presence directing traffic was reassuring.

The cooler temps really helped MY run this time. I was able to keep a pretty fast pace throughout, and even set a PR! The runners were all friendly and social, and I met a few friends on the course. My buddy Jay and fellow triathletes Amy and Helen were there and we had a blast!

Summary

The Race for Women’s Wellness is a good local race to do. Flat and fast course, lots of aid stations, volunteers and traffic control, food and vendors. You can choose to do the 5k or the half-marathon, and have a lot of fun either way.
